  • Your purchase decision of hot tub vs. swim spa comes down to a few factors, but the two most important are:

    • Do you have enough space?

    • Would you like to use your new unit year-round?

We see many people reduce their use of a hot tub during the hot summer months. With a swim spa, you can easily lower the termperature for a comfortable swim area and relaxation center during the hotter months. When the colder months return, you can adjust the temperature back to a warmer level, allowing you to keep the temperature comfortable year-round. Also, a swim spa includes excellent hot tub seats near the back, and they even have a Dual Temperature option available for extra customization! If you have the space, a swim spa is definitely a worthwhile investment in your wellness and relaxation.

  • There are a few options for your swim spa cover, but the best option is a Covana cover. It’s an electric powered, hard-shell, lifetime cover that will only require cleaning, never replacing. The automated control of raising and lowering of your cover makes your experience both easy and convenient. Stop into our Windsor showroom to see one in action!

  • Water care for a swim spa is exactly the same as a hot tub, only you won’t have to change the water as often! Water chemistry, cleaning the filters, and other routine hot tub maintenance actions would be the same in your swim spa. You can always visit our store if you need any advice on water care!

  • Jacuzzi® Swim Spas are packed with features, especially when it comes to the plumbing and the placement of the jets. Jacuzzi® has devoted their research team to finding ways to make the swim consistent and stabilized, keeping you in the middle of a swim lane that is powerful, not turbulent. After all, wouldn’t you rather swim in a consistently flowing river, rather than behind a boat propeller?

With the ability to adjust the power of the swim jets, Jacuzzi® PowerPro™ Swim Spas are perfect for any swimmer, from beginner to Olympian.

  • The swim strength of both the PowerActive™ and PowerPro™ series are adjustable!

The current can be set low (great for kids learning to swim), and can be adjusted all the way up for a swim that’s strong enough to help train for major competitions.

No matter where your swim level is at, Jacuzzi® has a speed that will work for you!

  • Yes! In 2025, Jacuzzi introduced their PowerPro™ J-19 DualTemp. This swim spa has two separate sections: one is a swim area, the other is a hot tub area. They even have two separate heaters! This means you can keep your hot tub hot, and your swim spa at your desired swim temperature. Now you have the versatility and fun of moving from hot water to cool water at a moment’s desire!

  • Yes! Swim spas are not just great for swimming, but they are excellent for play time with the kids, water aerobics, hydromassage, and other variations of workouts.

Jacuzzi® even offers a kit that gives you everything you need to turn your swim spa into a backyard gym. You can even use a tethered body board against the current for a fun ride!

  • When it comes to swim spas, the only answer is a solid and level concrete pad. Do not use spa pads, gravel, or wood decking to support your swim spa. It’s simply too heavy to be properly supported by other methods.

  • Absolutely! We have a Jacuzzi® Swim Spa in our Santa Rosa showroom and would be happy to schedule a time after hours for you to try it out in a comfortable and private environment. Give us a call at (707) 837-0604 or email sales@johnsonpoolandspa.com to set up a time to visit!

  • Jacuzzi® Swim Spas have water temperature ranges of 80°F to 104°F. This gives you a comfortable range to enjoy whther you’re swimming, exercising, or simply relaxing… when the days start getting warmer, 80°F water will feel cool and refreshing!

  • When it comes to electrical, a swim spa doesn’t need much more setup than a normal hot tub!

In fact, the PowerPlay™ and PowerActive™ models require the same as most hot tubs, with 50A/240V wiring that connects right to the Swim Spa.

The PowerPro™ models have a few more features, so those require 60A/240V electrical.

The only other difference would be the J-19 DualTemp models, which require two 60A/240V hook ups: one for the swim area heater, and one for the spa area heater.

If you need any help with determining electrical needs, please send our Repair Department a contact request or give them a call at (707) 837-0604 and they’ll be able to get you all set for your swim spa!

  • Each dealer sets the price for their area and for the package that they include with the purchase of a swim spa.

At Johnson Pool and Spa, we strive to offer the highest quality swim spa packages at extremely fair prices. We have swim spa models ranging from around $30,000 to more than $60,000. Most people who really research swim spas learn that you really do get what you pay for.

Something to know is that we have financing options available at 0% APR upon approval that can help you get the swim spa of your dreams… contact the Sales Team for details!
